This specialist company recently completed a project to
paint the interior and exterior of the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria for
the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in November 1999. More than 5 000mē of

 Using
a four-man crew, these coating specialists covered ceilings, walls and facades
in sometimes as little as a matter of hours, compared to the 60-strong painting
team that spent three weeks on detail work on the project. "It's a
very, very fast operation," says Basie Riekert, one of the company's
partners.

"The advantage of the spray system is you spray once, but
you get the equivalent of three coats of paint."
More than 1 400 liters of white paint were
used to revamp the interior and sections of the exterior of the nearly
century-old building. Difficult access to areas around the building
slowed work, Riekert says, but the process was completed on schedule and
at a considerable saving in time to traditional painting methods. |

Using the smaller machines, the interior was completed in
three days with the main interior passage completed in only three
hours. The smaller machines are capable of spraying 200 liters in 11
minutes to cover 1 200mē an hour. "One machine like that is worth
about 20 painters," Riekert says.
